October baseball is here! Major League Baseball’s postseason will officially get underway on Tuesday, September 30 with the start of the Wild Card Series. The field for the postseason came down to the final day of the regular season with the Reds locking up the final playoff spot in the National League due to winning the season series against the Mets. The Brewers and the Phillies secured the top two seeds in the National League and will receive first round byes. The Cubs will host the Padres in the 4-5 matchup while the Reds will travel to Los Angeles to take on the defending champion Dodgers. Over in the American League, the Toronto Blue Jays and Seattle Mariners will receive first round byes as the top two seeds. The Tigers will travel to Cleveland to take on the surging Guardians in an AL Central matchup. The other AL Wild Card series will feature another postseason matchup between the Red Sox and the Yankees. MLB playoffs: ESPN’s final wild-card round brought historic viewership, up 64% from last year
ESPN’s final year with Major League Baseball’s wild-card round was a historic one. The network announced Monday that the wild-card round of the playoffs last week averaged 4.6 million viewers. That’s up 64% from last year’s games and a record in the history of the three-game wild card format.

MLB disciplines Padres players over incident in wild-card round
Major League Baseball took action against two San Diego Padres players in response to an incident at the conclusion of the team’s loss in Game 3 of the National League Wild Card series.
The Toronto Blue Jays and New York Yankees play each other many times every regular season since they're AL East rivals, but this is the first time that these two foes will face off against one another in the MLB playoffs. The Blue Jays will host Game 1 of this best-of-five ALDS, with first pitch set for 4:08 p.m. ET on FOX.
