WWE “Friday Night SmackDown” is returning to a three-hour runtime to kick off 2026. Michael Cole and Corey Graves announced during the most recent broadcast that the change will take effect with the January 2 edition of the program. That episode is scheduled to emanate from the KeyBank Center in Buffalo, New York.

Nick Aldis Invites Absent WWE Star To SmackDown
SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis is trying to extend an olive branch to this WWE Superstar ahead of tonight’s show. On the November 7 episode of SmackDown, Nick Aldis suspended Drew McIntyre. This was a result of McIntyre getting involved in the main event between Cody Rhodes and Aleister Black.
WWE announcer Michael Cole revealed on the 12 December edition of SmackDown that the blue brand will be going 3 hours again starting with the 2 January 2026 episode. This is the second time in as many years that Triple H's crew has elected to bolster SmackDown and lengthen the show from a more traditional 2 hour format by tacking on an extra hour.
